School Readiness Tax Credits are a package of tax credits
that support the development of quality child care.
Credits are available to parents, child care centers, child care workers, and businesses. Parents can increase the value of their existing child care tax credit by sending their child to a center that has achieved two or more stars on the state's Quality Start rating system. Project Last

Project Last, a program offered by the Children's Bureau, offers specialized Grief and Trauma Group and Individual Counseling to school aged children affected by trauma, loss, or disaster.
Project Last has been shown to be very effective in reducing symptoms in children who are in crisis due to trauma and community violence. The program is available to Orleans and Jefferson Parish children ages infant to 17 and their families who are survivors of traumatic events, witnesses to acts of extreme violence, or victims of violence. Silence is Violence Youth Music Clinics

Silence is Violence holds free music clinics for youth ages 5 to 15 who are interested in instrumental and/or vocal performance.
No musical experience or prior registration necessary. Clinics are free, with dinner and instruments provided. Drop-ins welcome. The clinics are held every Tuesday evening, 5:30pm to 7:30pm, from March 10 to April 28, at Sound Café, 2700 Chartres Street in the Bywater.

Greater New Orleans Youth Orchestra (GNOYO)

GNOYO offers orchestral music opportunities through weekly rehearsals, one-on-one instruction with professional musicians and regularly scheduled concerts throughout the community.
GNOYO accepts all eligible students, regardless of financial means by providing scholarships to those in need of assistance. All musicians with at least 1 year of experience are invited to audition for one of the orchestra’s five ensembles, which accommodate various levels of playing ability.

Afterschool Program for Teens

YOUTHanasia Foundation, Inc. is currently accepting applications for its after school program for students grades eight through 12.
The program provides homework assistance and tutoring, as well as state-approved curricula designed to supplement the lessons students are learning in the classroom. The purpose of the program, which is being funded by the Louisiana Department of Education, is to prepare students for LEAP testing, as well as improve the overall LEAP scores within the state. Students participating in the after school program can also sign up for one of four programs that will allow them to express themselves creatively through song, dance, spoken word, drama and community service. New Orleans Kid Camera Project

The New Orleans Kid Camera Project was created to address the psychological and emotional impacts of Hurricane Katrina on children returning home to New Orleans.

Jefferson Parish Workforce Connection is now accepting applications for its SOARS Youth Development Program.
The purpose of the program is to provide participants with assistance in achieving academic and employment success through skill-building activities, hands-on worksite training and effective connections with community partners, employers, educational institutions and others.
Participants develop leadership skills, learn how to use good judgment, begin career planning and exploration to enable them to make good decisions, grow positively and become productive members of their families and community. Eligibility requirements are as follows:

The New Orleans Video Access Center's Digital Filmmaking Institute offers a variety of inexpensive media-making workshops and services for adults and teens.
