The Southern University at New Orleans-Small Business Development & Management Institute will hold a "SBA Community Express Loan Program" workshop for small businesses. You can apply for loans from $5,000 - $25,000 with no collateral required.

In order to apply, you will need:

• Driver's License or Official ID
• Green Card, if a registered alien
• Federal Tax ID Number (EIN)
• Business Check is required
• Social Security Number
• All Partners, Principals or Co-owners of the Business must apply together

NOTE: Any business needing a business checking account opened, a representative from J.P. Morgan Chase Bank will be present. Items needed to open the business checking account are as follows:

• Documentation of company's structure
• Sole Proprietor needs; an occupational license, employee ID, or assumed named certificate.
• LLC and Corporations need articles and EIN; an additional form of ID, such as a utility statement, credit/debit card, etc.

Business owners not eligible for these loans include those with a criminal history, or anyone who has defaulted on any government loans, including student loans. There is a $450 application fee (written on business account) plus on loans over $5,000 an SBA guarantee fee of 2% of the guaranteed portion of the loan deducted from proceeds, if funded. Non-profit businesses ARE NOT eligible. This is a Small Business Administration (SBA) guarantee loan program.
